This virtual program is a must for all health care professionals who provide services to residents with dementia. There is a continuing need for care partners who are trained to provide appropriate, competent, and sensitive direct care to individuals living with dementia. Following successful completion of this program, participants are one step closer to receiving their Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP®) certification. This program is brought to you by LeadingAge Nebraska, the Nebraska Hospice and Palliative Care Association and the Nebraska Home Care Association. We also want to recognize and thank Immanuel Communities for allowing Cameo Rogers to present.

Objectives: At the completion of the on-line training, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify common causes and symptoms for various diseases that cause dementia. Discuss strategies for explaining symptoms to new caregivers and families of people living with dementia.
  2. Identify common triggers for aggressive, repetitive, and sundowning behavioral expressions and practice problem-solving strategies in an interdisciplinary format.
  3. Describe therapeutic and meaningful activity interventions.
  4. Practice evidence-based approach and communication techniques in care scenarios.
